Archimedes Stool

An adjustable seat allows for statures of all sizes + the ability to separate the pieces into two usable objects.  When secured in the closed position, a gap within the sturdy wood exterior provides a glimpse to the interior metal helix, the mechanism that allows the seemingly static object to be brought into motion.  From one 4’x8’ piece of plywood the shell is created, and the waste from the cuts become pieces for a smaller, child-sized chair.  The plywood is sanded and left raw, the metal untreated.Warmth + Strength.Stability + Motion.
